Yay, Happy Earth Day!

Ah, yes! It’s Earth Day! A day where we can all take a moment and think about ecology and nature. Here in the Northwest, it’s a time where the eco-purists can show that they love the earth even more than their fellow man by setting a house on fire.

Yeah, nothing says “I care about nature” like a good ol’ housefire.

Something like 3 houses were burned in Snohomish County, WA (Near Seattle) and a note found at one site was apparently signed by “ELF”, the Earth Liberation Front. Wow, that really endears me to their cause. NOT.

Is it just me, or does it seem a tad counter productive to save the ecosystem by setting ablaze several thousand board feet of finished lumber, producing likely toxic fumes, air pollution, possibly killing people, firefighters, and maybe starting a forest fire. Ummm. Yeah.

My parents were nearly killed when an arsonist set their house on fire with them in it. Does eco-terrorism make me second-think building a new home? Nope, it makes me eager to deliberately start building a mock home so I can lure eco-terrorists into it, and dangle them over a rotisserie till they fully understand how it feels to be a tree in a forest fire.

If you aren’t smart enough to convince people that your cause is just, then you certainly aren’t smart enough to know what is and what isn’t ecologically sound. If violence is the only way to get your point across, then your point is moot.
